50th Anniversary

 During 2022 the United Reformed Church celebrated its 50th Anniversary. 

At Thaxted URC we held an open day, shared together in a special service and lunch, held a Songs of Praise Service and  planted a jubilee tree in the wild garden we are developing behind our church.

Created by United Reformed Act 1972, which bought together the Presbyterian Church of England and the majority of churches from the Congregational Church in England and Wales, the URC is a "family of Christians, worshiping in about 1,300 congregations ... who we believe that God is alive and listening to us through prayer, guiding and speaking to us through the Bible, forgiving us for what we have done wrong, and waiting for us in Heaven after we pass away."
